FIRST TRIAL

The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.

The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffin at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, Shiki's coffin is open, and her body is available to be examined.

Patience is standing among the statues, waiting for everyone to arrive. Once the entire group has been gathered, she speaks.

"Last night, a champion was taken from us, and a God has been angered. Reparations must be paid in kind...so today, we gather to determine which among our suspects will be held accountable."

She gestures behind her, and above the altar room's doorway, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of five gods, names etched upon their stands. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?

Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to decide... and your time starts now.

OOC NOTES

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!

A few notes on logistics, as this will play out a little differently than trials in previous games -

Firstly, in lieu of an investigation on Friday, during the trial itself, participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night - a copy, if you will. This can be done by providing the name of the location you wish to investigate to the host. For the sake of your mods' sanity, only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. Your host will be accompanying you into the area and can manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories, which you can then report the results of to the rest of the group at large. For this purpose, we suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away.

Secondly, rather than having a traditional suspect system where your vote is for which individual you think committed the murder, trials at Plasmatio focus on determining which god is responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower in reparations for stealing the life of one of the participants. There are multiple ways of taking part in this trial - you can focus on solving the murder, or focus on lowering the numbers of a suspect god you don't want to win the whole competition, or focus on your own character's goals, whatever they may be. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way you want them to.

And speaking of votes... before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

Beauty has the least followers.

They do. It'd be way too easy if it that was obvious, though... but then again, that's making assumptions about the gods' basic levels of intelligence.

Beauty was actively trying to get more followers. It wouldn't be a baseless assumption.

On the other hand, Beauty was also one of the most pacifistic gods who outright said that if any of his followers killed, he'd feel like he failed them. [a beat.] Obviously, he could just be a lying jerk, but the other gods also mentioned him being pretty compassionate, so if he is and fooled everyone, I'd expect him to play a longer game than killing in the first week.

Maybe he wants you to believe that so he isn't suspicious. Piety is next with the least followers.

Unless two gods with the most followers are trying to compete. Which gods didn't like each other? We should see who have talked to what gods and see what the gods have said about themselves.

Like I said, that'd mean he had to fool every other god or they're all lying to me, and I don't think anyone has any real reason to actively lie on behalf of their rival.

Among the five on our list? As far as I know, they were all pretty okay with each other. Disorder, Ruin, Ambition, and sometimes Cunning were the ones the others were wary of.

Ambition doesn't fit unless Ambition was aware she planned to defect and didn't want to allow another god a follower. Patience said gods could not interfere in private conversations to other gods. Did she actually tell Ambition her plans when they argued, or did someone tell Ambition for her?

Cunning and Ruin are disliked. I haven't spoken to Disorder.

I've heard Disorder described as nice if you don't disrespect them, but if you do...

Well, I think Chuuya has plenty of opinions on Disorder, so I'll leave it to him.

She tried to flatter me into staying, then threw a tantrum when that didn't work, then tried to threaten me into staying.

She punched through a mirror. Even I don't throw tantrums that bad.

She is "Disorder." [He's not... surprised to hear this.] Did she say anything about any of the other gods? Or about the disagreements between them?

Not really. Our conversation ended pretty quickly after she punched a hole through glass about the size of my head.

...Jesus. What did she threaten you with?

Oh, you know, I'll regret it if I cross her so really think it over first, she might send her remaining followers to murder me. About what you'd expect.

You're gonna be careful, right?

Yeah, of course. I'm not much help to my new god if I'm dead.

Our initial choices really were a bit vague, weren't they?

[Just saiyan. She seems to be taking the various godly personality problems and murder speculations in stride here.]

I'm not surprised you would annoy her that badly. You could have written her some poetry.

I write poetry for the gods I actually like.

So Disorder has a temper and use threats to try to get what she wants. But she isn't on the list of suspected gods.

Someone is working alone, or either some of these gods people are defending aren't as innocent as they claim.

Beauty wouldn't send someone to kill.

Where's your proof?

Me. And probably anyone else who's talked to Beauty.

And you trust the gods' words?

[usogi]

And the other gods - they're pretty open to gossip. There are some gods we've been told not to trust - Beauty's name didn't come up there.

I don't believe hearsay, though I will take it into account.
