TRIAL | WEEK ONE

FIRST TRIAL
The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.

The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffin at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, Shiki's coffin is open, and her body is available to be examined.

Patience is standing among the statues, waiting for everyone to arrive. Once the entire group has been gathered, she speaks.

"Last night, a champion was taken from us, and a God has been angered. Reparations must be paid in kind...so today, we gather to determine which among our suspects will be held accountable."

She gestures behind her, and above the altar room's doorway, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of five gods, names etched upon their stands. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?

Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to decide... and your time starts now.

VICTIM;

SUSPECTS;

OOC NOTES
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!

A few notes on logistics, as this will play out a little differently than trials in previous games -

Firstly, in lieu of an investigation on Friday, during the trial itself, participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night - a copy, if you will. This can be done by providing the name of the location you wish to investigate to the host. For the sake of your mods' sanity, only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. Your host will be accompanying you into the area and can manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories, which you can then report the results of to the rest of the group at large. For this purpose, we suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away.

Secondly, rather than having a traditional suspect system where your vote is for which individual you think committed the murder, trials at Plasmatio focus on determining which god is responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower in reparations for stealing the life of one of the participants. There are multiple ways of taking part in this trial - you can focus on solving the murder, or focus on lowering the numbers of a suspect god you don't want to win the whole competition, or focus on your own character's goals, whatever they may be. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way you want them to.

And speaking of votes... before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord or on plurk! Danielle ([plurk.com profile] entrappings) is taking point on the trial today, and Britt ([plurk.com profile] bloodthirstiest) is her backup. Thank you, and have fun!

Fascinating! Whoever did this must have much more strength than I possess! Subject appears to be stabbed with multiple weapons after all -- and different amounts of force. Perhaps more than one killer was involved.

Hiro, would you like to give it a try?

[ stab the corpse!!! stab stab! ]
zerotohiro: (No seriously who let me keyword these?)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2019-02-23 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh. No, I'm good! I'm...totally good. You're probably stronger than I am so it'd be kinda pointless, right? But...so what was the point? Just messing with the body even more than they needed to?
hairckervoice: (SCIENCE)

No, I wanted further information on the wounds! It strikes me as odd that there are so many of varying depth.

[ her last test it to see if she can make shallow marks with the longer shard, and deeper marks with the shorter shard, aka, trying to ascertain if the marks could all be made with the same weapon. ]

From this data I think we can surmise that the killer using one weapon isn't out of the question, but the weapon would have to be longer than both of these shards of glass to cut through the entire body..... truly, fascinating.

I still wonder what made the killer inflict so many wounds of varying depth.
zerotohiro: (Tough choices)

Same reason they lit her on fire, I guess. Maybe it was just to throw us off from figuring out the immediate cause of death. [Because this is a lot.] Either that or it's someone who really didn't like her, but I'm not finding a lot of people who fit that profile.
hairckervoice: (i can smell the chemicals)

[personal profile] hairckervoice 2019-02-23 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would be difficult to garner such strong feelings in less than a week! Though, I suppose if word got out that she had been planning to leave Ambition, that would have been a cause for vitriol.
zerotohiro: (How can that be?)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2019-02-23 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe a god who didn't like Sincerity asked someone to do it? Since apparently news of her defecting wasn't that secret. [Hm.] Or just someone who wanted to earn favor with someone else.
usogi: (♠ school was a battle)

[personal profile] usogi 2019-02-23 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest... I don't know who would've known....

Did Shiks tell anyone else?
selfimmolates: (ne. 1.)

[personal profile] selfimmolates 2019-02-23 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, she told me since I dropped your name, but she didn't specify that it was Sincerity she was switching to. When I spoke to her on Thursday, she sounded undecided.
hairckervoice: (ssss-science!)

[personal profile] hairckervoice 2019-02-23 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Which god are you aligned to?

[ just comes out and asks it, wow. ]
usogi: (♠ surprised by my presence)

[personal profile] usogi 2019-02-23 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[easily:]

Secret!
hairckervoice: (maybe i make things a mess)

[personal profile] hairckervoice 2019-02-23 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she seems a little disappointed, but. ]

You know, with this line of thinking, you're a viable suspect, since you knew she was planning on leaving Ambition.

[ this is incredibly blunt but she doesn't sound accusatory at all. ]
usogi: (♠ an almost impossibly sunny)

[personal profile] usogi 2019-02-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[eugh

he's not happy but also - ]

I'm not surprised that you'd guess - but I'd like to avoid being a suspect just for having friends.
hairckervoice: (she turned her tender eyes 2 me)

[personal profile] hairckervoice 2019-02-23 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think we can avoid being suspects in a situation like this!

But then, it depends who else knew she was planning to leave Ambition.

[ and he's not the only one, there's also his tsun bf. ]
