TRIAL | WEEK ONE
FIRST TRIAL
The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.
The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffin at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, Shiki's coffin is open, and her body is available to be examined.
Patience is standing among the statues, waiting for everyone to arrive. Once the entire group has been gathered, she speaks.
"Last night, a champion was taken from us, and a God has been angered. Reparations must be paid in kind...so today, we gather to determine which among our suspects will be held accountable."
She gestures behind her, and above the altar room's doorway, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of five gods, names etched upon their stands. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?
Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to decide... and your time starts now.

OOC NOTES
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!
A few notes on logistics, as this will play out a little differently than trials in previous games -
Firstly, in lieu of an investigation on Friday, during the trial itself, participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night - a copy, if you will. This can be done by providing the name of the location you wish to investigate to the host. For the sake of your mods' sanity, only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. Your host will be accompanying you into the area and can manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories, which you can then report the results of to the rest of the group at large. For this purpose, we suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away.
Secondly, rather than having a traditional suspect system where your vote is for which individual you think committed the murder, trials at Plasmatio focus on determining which god is responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower in reparations for stealing the life of one of the participants. There are multiple ways of taking part in this trial - you can focus on solving the murder, or focus on lowering the numbers of a suspect god you don't want to win the whole competition, or focus on your own character's goals, whatever they may be. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way you want them to.
And speaking of votes... before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord or on plurk! Danielle (
entrappings) is taking point on the trial today, and Britt (
bloodthirstiest) is her backup. Thank you, and have fun!

Are you serious?

I'm not trying to say this is definitely what happened. But it's possible, and it hasn't been discussed. We need to explore every avenue, even if it's just to prove a theory wrong. Maybe especially then.
[1/2]
Fine.
Then let's prove this wrong - and quickly.
I'm no detective, but let me try:
So far Ray and I have said that we knew that Shiks was part of Ambition, and I was the one she told that she was switching to Sincerity. Your options are looking at that either me [and he points to himself, because he knows he's not the biggest person in the room by far] or a 12-year-old had enough force to stab her and straight through a bed. Not even thinking about if we would. Here's a tip: I don't think you want to get into that.
Maybe there's someone else that Shiks was close to! I don't know all her friends. I'm listening. Continue with your theory if it wasn't hot air.
But given that I do know Shiks, and I think she was a really sweet person, even if she liked me or Ray - she wouldn't point fingers at someone at random because they're innocent, assuming she used Blame Game in your theory.
So!

Let's. Move. On.

Easy, there, Senri. You made your point.
Take a breath, okay?

and then he looks off to the side.]
Right. I just - don't want to waste time on something that didn't happen.

just
gonna put a hand on the sad dumbass's shoulder]
We'll figure it out, Senri. That's what we're all trying to do, even if it doesn't sound like it right now. Yu's just trying to get everyone to think. Even if the idea doesn't hold water, we still have to do something.
Could you bear with us for a little longer?
no subject
I don't like how he was thinking - so I told him he was wrong. We can move on now.

Save your energy to punch people who actually deserve it, alright?
[he knows the look of an angry emotional redhead from a mile away SO HE'S JUST GONNA. LEAVE HIM TO IT AT THAT.]
no subject
Please, there's no need. He's right.
no subject
He'll give Yu a nod of acknowledgement, at least.]
Force of habit. Sorry.
The last thing we need is to be bickering at each other.

GONNA. SHOOT HIM A LOOK.]
Your intentions were fine. Emotions are high.

I made a mistake that hurt someone. While I still believe there's merit in exploring every angle, I should have approached it differently.
no subject
...If I can wreck things with Patience and still deserve some shot at forgiveness, don't you think you and Senri have the same choice?

I believe you, Nito-san. I didn't suggest this because I think Shiki could have been a cruel person, or because I believe you or Ray-san might have killed her. Like you said, I don't know who all her friends are, or who she might have been willing to do this kind of thing for.
I suggested this idea because I want to rule it out as a possibility as conclusively as we can.
[ ... ]
But whatever my intentions were... I was reckless to suggest it so suddenly, and my carelessness hurt you. I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry, Nito-san.

[just throwing that out there!]

Senri huffs out an annoyed breath.]
Well congrats, you got me to do your work for you. If you ever get anything more on this theory, we can talk, but until then....
Apology accepted - but you're on thin ice, man! Sit one out, take a lap, get something to drink. We've been at this for a long time and your brain's fried.
