TRIAL | WEEK TWO
SECOND TRIAL
The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.
The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffin at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, the coffins of our victims are open, their bodies is available for examination. Each of the coffins has been decorated with sunflowers and dandelions.
Justice and Merriment are standing among the statues, waiting for everyone to arrive. Once the entire group has been gathered, Justice speaks, much like at the beginning of the week, on the behalf of them both. The short speech sounds familiar, and definitely rehearsed.
"Last night, four champions were taken from us and their Gods angered. Reparations must be paid in return for these losses...so, s-so today, we gather to determine which among our suspects will be held accountable for these transgressions."
Behind them, above the doorway to the altar room, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of five gods, names etched upon their stands: Sincerity, Piety, Indulgence, Love, and Cunning. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?
Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to decide... and your time starts now.

OOC NOTES
Hello, everyone, and welcome to our second trial!
Due to some wonderful feedback provided to us from all of you as well as our own observations, you may notice that the trial is formatted a bit differently from last week's! Overall, the process and mechanics will still be the same, but have been improved for overall streamlining and organization. For an overall refresher as well as an explanation of any changes, please keep reading for more!
Firstly, in lieu of an investigation on Friday, during the trial itself, participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night. This can be done by providing the name of the location you wish to investigate to the host that's serving as a magical chaperone. For the sake of your mods' sanity, only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. We also suggest using clues from the death announcement dream and the characters' bodies themselves to decide which places you wish to investigate, as it will serve as a good talking point for characters!
Your host will be accompanying you into the area in question and can manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories, which you can then report the results of to the rest of the group at large. For this purpose, we suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away.
In order to avoid unecessary searches of locations that have no evidence, while characters are allowed to suggest any location for searching, npc hosts will only be providing toplevels for places that actually contain evidence. Characters may revisit locations if they want to go back after collecting evidence in order to test out theories about the murder they may have come up with later.
Secondly, rather than having a traditional suspect system where your vote is for which individual you think committed the murder, trials at Plasmatio focus on determining which god is responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower in reparations for stealing the life of one of the participants. There are multiple ways of taking part in this trial - you can focus on solving the murder, or focus on lowering the numbers of a suspect god you don't want to win the whole competition, or focus on your own character's goals, whatever they may be. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way you want them to and not just for solving a crime--this is a game of strategy, after all. Remember that no matter what conclusion you come to, there's never any guarentee that the culprit will be up for execution.
We highly encourage that you start early thinking about which god may have had the most to gain from the crime, so you aren't finding yourself voting blind at the last moment. When you're ready, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord or on plurk! Danielle (
entrappings) is taking point on the trial today, and Britt (
bloodthirstiest) is her backup. Just like last week, we'll have a feedback plurk up tomorrow to ask for any opinions on our trial mechanics since we're still working out the kinks, and want to know how it felt for you moving forward from last week to this one. The further into the game we get, the more that we want to iron out our system and give the maximum amount of fun that we can for all of you!
Thank you, and have fun!

Well, Justice said he came from some kind of facility similar to our lab here.

[He looks a bit guilty for dishing on Justice's life, but it's relevant.]

[no.]
She seemed to know him, so... Damn, yeah, I guess that's a similar enough history, even if Justice isn't an android.

[Which. was insulting, frankly. HE HAS SO MUCH TO GIVE!!!]

Oh. You too, huh.

Wonder if it was the same god.
[locks eyes dramatically like "we're gonna have to chat later bub."]

Hard to say, isn't it? It isn't as if I've managed to speak with everyone here yet, but...
[ dramatic trail off ]

It's certainly possible that more than one god chose their followers based on who qualified as interesting, sure.

[Among other things!]

[And that's probably why Justice got along with her.]

It's a shame in this case that the gods can't tell us too much about themselves...
