MINGLE LOG | WEEK THREE
HALFWAY THERE...
When everyone wakes up on Monday morning, perhaps with heavy or anxious hearts, they'll all feel compelled to gather once more in the courtyard. After a long day of praying, it's time to see the results of Saturday's verdict. Justice and Merriment are waiting for them, as always, on the steps before the entrance to the altar room, and doesn't speak until everyone has gathered.
Surprisingly, neither seem tense or in bad spirits, and Justice jumps at the chance to speak, dashing up to the edge of the crowd. "This weekend, Piety has been caught in contempt by Cunning, and has hereby chosen Ishikirimaru to be removed from their ranks. But...but!" The child clasps their hands together, looking at the sentenced in question. "Because he's chosen to forsake his god of his own volition and defect without coercion...there will be no additional eliminations this week!"
Merriment comes up to put a hand on top of Justice's head. "Great news, right? Celebrate, but just don't let it catch you too off guard."
"Thank you for letting us host, and, um...sorry again, for all of the trouble. Have a good week, and please come visit?"
With that, the both of them are gone. Justice and Merriment disappear into the altar room, and will not be seen within the temple again until someone makes an offering to them.
Still, even in their absence not a soul feels as if they should leave. They all get the sense that the last week has now drawn to its close, and the third week has, at once, begun. Two figures emerge from the altar room. One of them is shorter than the other, and carrying a scroll clasped to their chest; the other strides forward confidently, somehow managing the grass in the courtyard with ease despite the fashionable high heels they are wearing.
The taller of the two crosses their arms, but doesn't sound altogether ill-mannered when they speak. The sweetly feminine tones are pleasant, but lacking the sugary cadence reminiscent of Patience's. "Hi. For those of you who don't know, I'm Disorder...and this is Fortune. Neither of us have exactly gotten a lot of visitors these past two weeks, so it makes sense if you don't recognize us. Or, in my case, are disappointed to even see me."
There's a hesitation before Fortune gets them back on track.
"...I guess you all want to know the standings, right?"
The shorter of the two unfurls the scroll with slightly trembling hands, and begins to read the follower counts aloud in a voice that is steady until they reach the last name. As they do, the text etched into the polished white stone columns that line the courtyard rewrites itself to accurately display the following:
The god takes a breath to center themself as they begin to roll up the scroll. As Fortune pauses, Disorder takes the opportunity to speak once more.
"I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that you can find new locations available in the east and west wings. We both put a lot of thought into them, so I hope you can all show a bit of appreciation."
The shorter god cuts in at this point, not quite willing to be talked over. They shoot the taller god what might be a disgruntled look, but it's hard to tell with the mask blocking their expression.
"There are new rules now, so make sure you look over them. If there's anything you don't understand... just ask, okay?"
And then, like a bubble bursting, the hold keeping them there vanishes, and everyone is free to explore as they please. The statues belonging to those who perished last week vanish from the courtyard. As everyone turns away from the pair of gods, Disorder clears her throat one more time.
"Oh, and if anyone's seen a stolen purple bra, I'd like it back, please."

[ belatedly, she realizes that he said he knows about festivals from towns, so maybe he already knows about this sort of thing. ]
Well, you know. That type of thing.
no subject
[ Pleb festivals because what is modern technology, honestly. ]
no subject
[ right. drastically different worlds. she tries to explain with hand-gestures that are... somewhat coherent? ]
Roller coasters are like... You sit in a little cart and it goes around a track and it goes up and down real fast and does loops upside down - and you're strapped in, so it's totally safe. Or there's the one where you sit in a swing and get spun around from really high up, too! And on merry-go-rounds you sit on pretty seats and models of horses or unicorns and the ride just goes in a slow circle for a while - but it's pretty, and kind of romantic.
no subject
Wow. I wish I had any of that where I come from.
[ He'll look over towards the rides in the dark. ]
Are any of those here we could try out?
no subject
[ not as fast and dramatic as a real carnival, but still good. ]
... Have you even been on the Ferris wheel, yet?
no subject
actually.
uhhh ]
...no.
[ LOOK....please don't judge him. ]
no subject
Then let's start there.
no subject
Alright.
I suppose that would be the most logical place to start.
no subject
Oh - you aren't afraid of heights, are you?
no subject
I'm not, and if it's slow then I really won't have much to worry about.

With the lights like this, it kind of reminds me of where I was staying for a while.

She offers Jude a hand. ]
Yeah? Where was that?
no subject
The school I was studying at back home. It's always night there so there are plenty of lights everywhere.
no subject
That sounds so pretty, but... Also kind of depressing...
[ she doesn't want to be rude but that! sounds sad and dark. ]
no subject
[ a soft laugh. ]
It took me a while to get used to waking up when it was still dark outside.

People made it be night forever? How?
