FIRST TRIAL

The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.

The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffin at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, Shiki's coffin is open, and her body is available to be examined.

Patience is standing among the statues, waiting for everyone to arrive. Once the entire group has been gathered, she speaks.

"Last night, a champion was taken from us, and a God has been angered. Reparations must be paid in kind...so today, we gather to determine which among our suspects will be held accountable."

She gestures behind her, and above the altar room's doorway, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of five gods, names etched upon their stands. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?

Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to decide... and your time starts now.

OOC NOTES

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!

A few notes on logistics, as this will play out a little differently than trials in previous games -

Firstly, in lieu of an investigation on Friday, during the trial itself, participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night - a copy, if you will. This can be done by providing the name of the location you wish to investigate to the host. For the sake of your mods' sanity, only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. Your host will be accompanying you into the area and can manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories, which you can then report the results of to the rest of the group at large. For this purpose, we suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away.

Secondly, rather than having a traditional suspect system where your vote is for which individual you think committed the murder, trials at Plasmatio focus on determining which god is responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower in reparations for stealing the life of one of the participants. There are multiple ways of taking part in this trial - you can focus on solving the murder, or focus on lowering the numbers of a suspect god you don't want to win the whole competition, or focus on your own character's goals, whatever they may be. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way you want them to.

And speaking of votes... before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

[ entrapta's got gloves on (plus her mini-robot to aid), so she'll carefully turn the body over to see if there are any wounds or anything, and try to determine what kind of fire it was that killed her, etc. ]

Fascinating! Of all ways to kill, why fire?

Fire is an easy way to cover your tracks. It can also warp injuries and other evidence.

From my preliminary observations, it appears that your hypothesis is correct! I've found several cuts on the body.

[Entrapta will discover that it as an alcohol-based fire that burned the body, and that there are several shallow and deeper cuts scattered across her skin.]

[ how very interesting!!! can she tell what made the cuts, and if they're in spots that would be lethal? ]

[There are some cuts on her arms, torso, chest, and neck. Many of those spots could indeed be lethal! It looks like they were made by a blade that was not serrated.]

[She could, like, reach into the wounds to see how deep they go, or ask someone to bum a knife from somewhere to compare...

Otherwise, at a glance she just seems to be a crispy, if rather fashionable teen! Cute clothes cute jewelry, cute hip pouch.]

Verifying depth of wounds! Does anyone else have a knife or small blade I can compare these to?

The ones on her arms and neck are shallower, although deep enough that theoretically she could have bled out if left alone long enough - but the chest wound is the deepest of all.

...

Also congrats Entrapta you've got blood and body char on your gloves now.]

[ she at least put her mask down so it doesn't get on her face. science!! anyway, hector gave her a dagger, so she's going to compare that to the wounds now. ]

[The dagger is smaller than the chest wound! ...it's larger than some of the other wounds, though. Hmm.]

If Connor inspects the stab wounds, is there any way to determine if they were inflected post or pre mortem?]

[There is some light inflammation around the chest wound, but no inflammation around the other wounds. Make of that what y'all will!]

[Now that they know what's missing from the Kitchen! Does the depth of any of the wounds match the length of the knives missing from the kitchen? In particular, he's very much interested in the depth and angle of the chest wound.]

[Both of the knives in the kitchen are smaller than the length of the wound!

Granted, that wouldn't stop someone from, like, shoving their arm in there and continuing to stab, buuuuut... the rest of the wound doesn't really look disturbed enough for a wholeass arm to have been shoved in there. Or at least it didn't before Entrapta started shoving her fingers in there.]

[I hate this. He hesitates actually touching her but...okay. Gingerly rolling up the bottom hem of the skirt and not exactly looking at what he's doing until there's enough expanse of skin for Entrapta to stab.
