TRIAL | WEEK SIX
SIXTH TRIAL
The participants' sleep the night before is blessedly free of god-sent dreams, and when they wake and the morning dawns bright and early, they find themselves drawn to the courtyard.
The courtyard looks mostly the same as it did the day before - filled with statues of each of the participants, with frosted glass-topped coffins at the center. However, now that the trial has begun, the coffins of our victims are open, their bodies is available for examination.
Once everyone has gathered, Sincerity heaves a sigh and glances from the gathered group, to the coffins, and back to the group. "Right, well... I was hoping we wouldn't be gathered here for this this weekend, but here we are. If you've got any questions, ask me. The only way out of this is through it, so we'd better get to work."
He says it with all the weariness of someone who's had to say the same thing several times already, and then looks to Beauty.
Beauty, meanwhile, stands at Sincerity's side with his hands primly folded behind his back. Likewise, when he speaks he's a little weary himself.
"Sincerity-senpai will handle all of your questions throughout the day, whereas I'll be your guide for locations you wish to visit." There's a pause. "Best of luck to all of you."
"...oh, right!" Sincerity realizes something suddenly - he claps his hands to get everyone's attention. "I hope you all dressed up, 'cause uh, if you didn't... well, you'll find out... now."
Anyone who did not dress their best for trial will find themselves decked out in the fanciest, most impractical clothing they can imagine.
Behind them, above the doorway to the altar room, marble busts appear depicting the masked faces of the five suspected gods, names etched upon their stands: Justice, Ambition, Indulgence, Merriment, and Love. The culprit is among their ranks, but which team will bear the burden?
Good luck, everyone. You have nine hours to cast your vote... and your time starts now.

OOC NOTES
Hello, everyone, and welcome to our sixth trial!
Each trial is surrounded by different circumstances, so don't expect this one to play out the same way as the last, but read on for a general reminder on what to keep in mind while playing with the game's specific trial mechanics:
Participants will have the chance to investigate a preserved version of the temple as it was on murder night by providing the name of the location they wish to investigate to the appropriate host. Only one location may be investigated at a time, and no more than three characters should take part in the investigation. Clues from the death announcement dream and the characters' bodies themselves will provide hints for which places you may want to investigate, so these will serve as good ic talking points. The accompanying host is able to manipulate the environment upon request to allow you to test theories. We suggest that you visit locations to confirm or deny theories that have come up in discussion at the trial, or to search for clues if you get stuck. The others can and should continue to brainstorm while the investigation crew is away. Characters may revisit previously searched locations.
The purpose of these trials is determining which god is considered responsible for the actions of their follower, and in turn, which god will therefore lose a follower. Ultimately, your task here is to sway the group at large into voting the way best plays to your strategy and not just for solving a crime. Remember that no matter what conclusion you come to, there's never any guarantee that any actual culprit will be up for execution. We highly encourage that you start early thinking about which god may have had the most to gain from the crime, so you aren't finding yourself voting blind at the last moment. When you're ready, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 6PM PST/9PM EST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord or on plurk! Britt (
bloodthirstiest) is taking point on the trial today, and Danielle (
entrappings) is her backup.
Thank you, and have fun!

ALIGNMENTS
Catra-san and Entrapta-chan's alignments were Sincerity and Ambition.
One of them switched last week to Sincerity this week. I was told that Catra-san was with Ambition before... but my information isn't super recent. I don't know if they decided to swap...?
Yu-kun says that Catra-san was with Ambition.
So... if I could get their coins, I'd appreciate it. I don't know how much it'd illuminate, but I guess I'm curious.
no subject
What would the state of their coins reveal...? If Catra is with Ambition, then Entrapta must be with Sincerity.

WEEKLY STRIP SEARCH, NOW HOSTED BY A CHILD
[...he looks a LITTLE EMBARRASSED about that wording just tumbling out of his mouth, but presses forward, unhindered.] Last week we all just... trusted each other [and he was complicit in that ughhhhh], so this week, let's really ask questions, okay? BODY FINDINGS: CATRA
Anyway here's Yu, dumping hand sanitizer all over his hands and actively trying to forget what the texture of crispy skin feels like. Everything he says is delivered in a flat monotone. ]
Catra's face is burned off. It looked like ... her face was forced directly into a fire for a while. [ :/ ] The burns all stop where her clothes start. [ ... murmured: ] I wonder if someone might have used Battle Armor on her. That could explain how her clothes were left untouched but any uncovered part of her was burned. There are burns on her fingers and her feet, too. The only other injuries she has seem to be old. [ He'll indicate on his own body where her injuries are as he explains: ] There was a burn on her left arm and her right side, and wounds on her legs. But like I said, those were all old.
I found her coin, too, and it's untarnished, meaning she was still with Ambition when she died. There weren't any other items on her.
... and, yes, I checked her thoroughly. Front and back, and beneath her clothes.
[ And he wants to die. Thanks everybody! ]

entrapta body findings + a note on catra
I examined Entrapta's body and found a number of cuts on her arms and legs. However, I was unable to determine which kind of blade these were made with. Whoever is responsible for them took the necessary steps to tamper with her injuries... Though I can at least say the additional damage wasn't made by pulling at the cuts. [It is a mystery.] I have reason to believe she was upright when the cuts were made. Sections of her hair were hacked off, and they aligned roughly with the location of her injuries. The cuts were also made premorterm.
[So... That's fun. He takes an empty vial out of his pocket to show to everyone. It's labeled with a skull.]
I found this on her while searching for her coin. It was empty, and whatever was inside had a bitter taste and smell — like poison. I can't confirm what it was, exactly, without access to the lab... But her mouth carried the same odour. As I couldn't find a fatal injury on her body, I assume this is what was used to kill her.
[A pause, and he sighs.]
I checked Catra's mouth to confirm she hadn't ingested any of the poison, as well. What I found instead were traces of a cookie. One that can force a person to share a secret once ingested. [...] Ray had access to this same type of cookie... and we know for a fact now that Catra was with Ambition, one of the gods available for vote last week.
[It's not quite trial relevant, but. Just saying. They still don't know who killed Ray.]

Once you talk to him, you'll realize he's open to ideas and sincere in his convictions. He really does want the best for everyone, and I think he'd surprise you if you talked to him a little more honestly.

second floor findings + SHOW US YOUR WOUNDS AGAIN
As you know— Luke, Narukami and I examined the second floor hallway, where we found... A mess, to be blunt. There was a strange, unidentifiable substance coating the floor. One that I had the misfortune of coming in contact with. [He gestures down to his right hand, which is now stuck in a 👌 due to his index finger and thumb getting stuck together.] I've refrained from ingesting a sample due to how glutinous it is — but we should take it to the lab in order to confirm what it is, exactly.
[Anyway! Taking out the items they found, and explaining them as he goes.]
During our investigation, I found a broken vial similar to the one found on Entrapta. This one did not have a bitter odour. I also found a large pool of blood, as if someone had bled out on the spot, but no trail indicating that they were dragged away from the scene. There were broken beakers and vials surrounding the pool, as well as purple hair matching Entrapta's. I also found a cooking pan, but no indication of what it was used for. [Is Rapunzel the secret 43rd character? We just don't know.] Luke found a broken capsule, lighter, and several weapons... One sword from the armory, to be exact, along with several bo-shuriken. Emma and Entrapta's personal notebook were found in the vicinity, too... We also found a defective smokebomb and some crumbs. Perhaps from the cookie Catra ingested.
There were scorch marks in the second floor hallway, with scratches on the ground nearby... [...] Oh— Luke found a golden coin in the corner of the room. Heavily tarnished. It could be Entrapta's.
[There's a beat, and Connor sighs.]
Because of the weapons we found, we would like to reexamine the injuries of anyone who presented fresh cuts or bruises. [And. He looks at Sasuke, frowning.] And you, in particular, I would like to reexamine personally.

haha wow look at that
Entrapta's coin showed four switches - that's more than enough. She switched to Sincerity this week, but she was with Disorder last week. She was with someone else before, and she was going to switch to Ambition, but Bambi convinced her to Dizzy instead. She was the Disorder that cursed Yu-kun after he was sure that Ambition was guilty, because she was covering for Catra.
[he's holding onto the coin, as well as reaching into his pocket to pull out some of the letters, he flicks through them, before he settles on one that he holds out]
Ray-kun sent me a letter - because I told him that I was mad we couldn't figure out his hint last week but... it's - it was just... two. Two killers. And every hint he gave me pointed to them. So I....
Catra and Entrapta killed Ray-kun.
[ . . . and his voice is shaky as he continues, now that he got through all the facts]
I... I don't... I know they were people's friends but I...
I told people all week I was looking for who hurt Ray-kun, and I said... I said I knew that Catra was with Ambition, but I didn't know if she still was. I thought we had to find out who they were, because if they would hurt someone like Ray-kun who was the most helpful at finding people, that meant they could try to hurt more people.
It's... I think it's my fault. If I could say to vote for my god, I would but I can't... but I don't - I don't know any more than this. But I think that whoever did it... they were just trying to protect others, before more innocent people could get hurt.

crow clock
<3 ]
.................... catclock.
--but he'll draw himself away from them, slowly to his feet.
It's that time, isn't it? And everything is chaos. ]
... Catra and Entrapta were killed to prevent them from doing more damage. Ishikirimaru knew of it. He's Luna's killer, but that's not relevant for this trial. Indulgence knew of Thursday's crime in advance, but it's very likely at least one other god did as well. It's likely Ishikirimaru can tell us who Catra and Entrapta's killer is, though whether or not he will is another question.
We have half an hour and we need to pick a god to vote for.
Focus.

[This trial is so much. Sincerity leaps up to his feet as soon as it's time, and gets right to it, because yeeeeeeeeikes it sure would be nice to leave this courtyard soon. He unfurls a scroll, reads it over, and then nods. He doesn't sound at all surprised when he speaks again.]
The votes are in, and you've all voted for Merriment by a clear majority. And... his follower was guilty! Your track record's pretty good on these things, you know.
[He looks around the courtyard.]
You're all free to-- eh?
[From Entrapta's coffin, there is movement.
Looks like she's breathing again. Although she might need some time to rest
if Sipp is still out.]...well, I'll be. It was a potion to fake a death after all.
